Weber 7527 Stainless Steel Replacement Cooking Grates

Weber 7527 Stainless Steel Replacement Cooking Grates Review

I ordered these grates on a Sunday night around 10PM, and received them Tuesday morning! They seem much heavier and better made than the exact same product I saw in Home Depot for more! It took 5 seconds to install them, and they look great. I fired up the grill just to sanitize them before use, and they discolored a little bit, which is to be expected. Although I haven't used them yet, I can't believe that they won't last a lot longer than the grates that came with the original purchase.

At the same time, I also installed new gas burner tubes. That took maybe 10 minutes. It was so easy, I didn't have to read the directions! (I don't recommend that. I think you should read the directions for safety. I just never do. I'm just a typical guy who likes to figure things out on my own! LOL)

I definitely think the extra cost of the stainless steel is worth it. So, as far as I'm concerned, I have a "brand new" grill that will last me many more years, for a little over 0, instead of spending 0 or more for a new one. I couldn't be happier!

Gas Fireplaces Review

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Gas fireplaces can be used in almost any form of household, even for people who live in trailers. The reason why they are so appealing is because they are almost like a television. You can get to enjoy the warmth of a fire by the touch of a button on a remote control. The much needed effort required to cut up wood and start the fire using newspaper becomes a memory.

Long ago, people would form a bond while sitting by the fire by telling stories, talking about the day's activities, and plan what to do the next day. In this day and time, this is almost impossible because of how busy everyone seems to be. No one has the time to sit by the fire and share their day to day activities.

The gas fireplaces come in a wide range that one can choose from. It is possible to desire something that best suits your house. They have additional attributes that improve their appearance. These attributes include choosing the temperature you desire and that suits you. You also have a choice of using those that don't use electricity but instead are lighted using a match. This means that it is possible to use them even when there is no electricity.

If the owner has knowledge whatsoever about putting up gas fireplaces, then they can try. The best advice however is to hire someone that is qualified to do it. That way, they can offer advise on how to maintain it and they can also diagnosis a problem, should there be one.

Need to Know Tips About a Propane Fireplace

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Many people are starting to see that a propane fireplace has many benefits to it, which means that it is easy on the homeowner. When it comes time to install a propane fireplace, a professional crew can come out and set everything up. This is extremely easy on the homeowner as they barely have to do anything at all for preparation. The crew that comes in will basically do everything for you. All you do is sit back and watch your new fireplace being installed.

If the home does not already have a flue or a regular chimney in place then the propane fireplace can be ventless. This ventless options means that the homeowner will save on energy as well and space since a chimney will not have to be built from scratch. The propane fireplace is also known to heat very fast and can be used to transfer heat all over the house. There is the option to have an electric starter for the fireplace but there is always the manual start option in case of the electricity being out.

Now that we have the basic grip on what makes a propane fireplace so special, there is even more to learn about. The fact is, propane is available almost everywhere instead of natural gas, which is localized only to distribution grids. Also, what makes this kind of fireplace so special is that the propane fireplace can come with a remote control to help control the size of the flames. These are things that you just cannot get with a regular wood burning fireplace and you will always be reminded of that when you sit near your new fireplace to enjoy its warmth.

If you are ready to have one installed, then call a company near you for a price. The job will not take them long to complete and you will never regret your decision to bring a propane fireplace into your home. How could you ever go wrong with such a purchase? It will provide controlled heat for your home and add beauty to the room that it is in. There is almost no better way to spend a chilly winter night. The sooner you get started the better as looking around will allow you time to find some great deals and maybe even big discounts.

I finally splurged and got these cast iron grates for my 8-year old Weber Genesis Silver A...wish I would have gotten them years ago! They are heavy (durable) and leave a great char mark on whatever you grill. They are also easier to clean that the original ceramic coated steel grates, nothing has stuck to them yet after a month of use (10 or so uses). Combined with new burners, I have a new grill that will last another 8 years. I am very pleased.

5 Tips on How to Survive a Breakup and Get Off the Depression Express

Image : http://www.flickr.com

How to survive a breakup is a life lesson that you can't learn from a book. You've tried all the ways you can to stay together, and have made the decision that it's over. Now you need to function on a daily basis while dealing with the feeling that your entire life has been derailed. You feel betrayed and angry and hurt, and this is how it should be. Grief and loss enters everyone's life at some point; the trick is how you handle it. Here are five simple tips to help you get your emotional roller coaster back on the right track.

1. Out of Sight, Out of Mind

To get through a your breakup, the keepsakes have to go. The tickets to the ballgame where you first met?....Out. The cute anniversary card you put up on the put up on the fireplace? Put it IN the fireplace. Get rid of anything that reminds you of your ex. You may choose to burn these items, or just store them somewhere out of sight. Either way will work as long as all the visual cues of your relationship, and of the breakup, are gone.

2. A Friend In Need Is A Friend Indeed

You are not alone. Your friends are your best source of moral support and emotional steadiness in these dark days of depression. So break out of the "poor me" rut and rely on your friends. Let them help get your mind off of the breakup. Perhaps you should invite them over for a "Keepsake Removal Party." (See tip 1, above.) Lighten the mood and take a step toward recovery at the same time.

3. Make Some Elbow Room

You want to survive this breakup. Given that fact, you need to create some distance between you and your ex. You need your own space just now, free from any outside influences. To start with, all communication with your ex must be cut off. This will help you to mentally remove them from your life. Don't talk to them, don't text them. Cut off means exactly that. No emails, no tweets, no Facebook or other social media. The longer you resist breaking contact with them, the harder the entire process will be. Keep in mind that the only way to move on is by going forward.

4. Give Yourself Time

Everyone reacts to grief and loss differently. Some cling to those feelings and drag them out for as long as possible. Others will seemingly be over their mourning in a day. You are the best judge of how long the process takes, for you. So give yourself ample time to cope with the emotions that arise during your breakup. Don't ignore these emotions, but don't give them control either. You want to accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative in your situation.

5. Get Busy

Go ahead and take a little time to be alone, but don't overdo it. You can't hide from the world, it will still be there tomorrow. So get out of the house at every opportunity. It's a good idea to avoid the old haunts you used to frequent with your ex. Develop some new haunts. Rediscover the things life has to offer. Participate in positive activities to give your mind and emotions a break. Go skydiving. Or if that is a little too much of a break for you, clean the house or go to the gym, or anything else that requires some level of activity and involvement. You've been wanting to make enough room to actually put the car in the garage, now would be a really good time.

So, there is. How to survive a breakup in just a few short paragraphs. Get the reminders out of sight, call on your friends, make some elbow room, give yourself time, and get busy. The sooner you smooth out your emotional ups and downs the quicker you will get over your breakup.

An Information Guide To Maintaining Limestone Fireplaces

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Limestone is very durable and is an extremely good choice for a fireplace!

However, limestone is also rather soft and relatively porous, so it does require care from the householder to prevent stains and grubby marks spoiling the surface - especially for new limestone fireplaces!

A few important points for first time buyers!

Your limestone fireplace should be chemically sealed with a good quality sealant. The better sealants do not change the colour of the limestone to any degree, but prevent easy penetration of possible stains from getting into the stone. Your fireplace supplier should either seal your fireplace for you, (probably at extra cost) or provide a tin of liquid sealant for you to paint over the surface yourself (also probably at extra cost). These sealants cost around £20 or more per tin, so if you see one for much less, don't use it, as it may not be good enough, and could darken your limestone fireplace colour!

If you have a limestone hearth, this should be sealed twice. Leave the first coat to completely dry and then add the second. Make sure you do not apply too much sealer, as this could cause a change to the surface if soaked!

You may have to repeat the complete sealing process after about six months or a year, especially if the fireplace is for solid fuel. After that, your limestone fireplace will probably not require any further chemical sealing.

Cleaning Limestone Fireplaces

The best way to clean off a grubby mark from your limestone fireplace is simply to use a clean cotton cloth dampened with very dilute washing up liquid. Do not soak the stone though!

If you have coffee or wine etc, spill onto your limestone fireplace surface don't panic, just clean it off thoroughly with a dampened cloth and everything should be fine.

A number of things not to do:

Never use wax or spray polishes on a limestone fireplace, as these products can darken the surface of the limestone and create patches.

Never use kitchen or bathroom cleaners, as they could react with the limestone surface.

Never allow cigarettes to be placed on the stone surface, the heat could cause a brown scar.

Never stand vases with flowers directly on the limestone surface, as this could cause a permanent ring mark!

Never stand red wine, tea or coffee etc, directly on your limestone fireplace -stains and ring marks could result!

Never stand coal or logs directly on the fireplace surface - damage and stains may result!

Never plaster down to, or on to a limestone fireplace - the stone will take up colour from the plaster.

The above list of "don't do's" for limestone, can also be found here on the Money Saving Expert Forum, as I posted it there in the first instance, prior to writing this article!

Real Fires, Limestone Fireplaces and Cracking caused by heat!It is important to be aware that limestone can crack from the heat of a real fire!

A limestone hearth section, which is close to a real fire can become extremely hot, whilst the edges of the hearth can stay relatively cool. Given the right length of time, a limestone hearth, is virtually guaranteed to crack!

There are things you can do to overcome this type of problem... One of the most common, is to have a limestone hearth cut / sectioned and re-sealed for real fire use!

To achieve this, the hearth is cut into a number of sections, and then reassembled with joins... These joins act as expansion joints. In addition to this, the hearth is normally then backed by high temperature cement, for extra protection!

The joints in the hearth should now prevent the stress spreading across the surface and therefore prevent the hearth from cracking - a heat plate could also be used, to assist in protecting the limestone from the heat and scratches.

Plan Now For Your Summer Lawn and Garden Irrigation Needs

Image : http://www.flickr.com

With the snow melting, temperatures rising, and the heavy spring rains coming down, it's hard to think about hot dry summer days. Yet this is the perfect time to start planning your lawn and gardening irrigation needs. Your plan should include looking at your current lawn and garden irrigation tools you may have stored away. Pull them off the garage shelve and see if then need to be repaired or replace.

What's your garden water hose look like? What is the shape of the hose and fittings? Do you have enough garden hose to reach all parts of your lawn and garden? What is your plan for your irrigating your garden? Thinking of a drip irrigation system or sprinkler system? What's the condition of your lawn sprinkler? Do you have water timers to conserve water and save you money?

Before you go and buy everything you think you need, let's look at 10 ways you can plan your lawn and garden irrigation needs. These 10 ways can also help you conserve both water and time and save you money.

Ten Ways You Can Plan Your Lawn and Garden Irrigation Needs:

1) The layout of your garden is important to saving water usage. When setting the footprint of your garden, think about where the water will run off. Running water naturally into a garden bed will keep more water in your garden.
2) Group plants according to their water needs. This allows for a more efficient watering usage.
3) Use good mulch and layer it thick. This can prevent up to 70% water loss.
4) Water the highest parts of your garden first to utilize any run off.
5) Dig a small trench around trees to hold water and use a digital water timer to shut off water and stop excessive usage
6) Water roots, not leaves with drip a irrigation system
7) Water lawns only when needed and early in the morning to stop evaporation loss and use a water timer to reduce over watering
8) Aerate soil to allow for more penetration.
9) Cut lawns higher. Taller grass holds water better.
10) Select drought resistant grasses and plants.

Now take action and get the lawn and garden irrigation supplies that will work best for you and your watering needs. Most importantly, look for quality products when looking for garden hoses, drip irrigation systems, lawn sprinklers, and water timers. Pay a little more now and save both time and money for the long run.

In conclusion, there is no better time than early spring to get your summer lawn and garden irrigation needs ready. Plus there is plenty of time to find what you need and what works best for your lawn and garden.

How to Make a Fireplace Or Grill

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Have you ever noticed that your patio is missing something? You might be wondering what other things you can add to the patio to make it more appealing. Putting a fireplace may be one of the good projects you can do for your patio. A fireplace can be a useful thing you can add to your patio especially during the summer when there are barbecue weekends most of the time. You can invite friends and relatives and enjoy barbecue right in your patio during hot summer evenings. You can make this fireplace yourself by learning the steps in making one.

1. The first step in a do-it-yourself fireplace is preparing the materials you need to construct it. The things you can use for this project are bricks, cement and plywood. Make sure all your handy tools are also within your reach like hammer and nails.

2. The second step in a do-it-yourself fireplace is structuring your materials. If you will the plywood you should use the one with the dimensions of two inches by four inches. Many people that this will be a dangerous material for a fireplace but you just have to make sure everything is done properly before you use it. A fireplace made of wood is reminiscent of the fireplace used centuries ago.

3. The third step in a do-it-yourself fireplace is structuring the base of the fireplace. You should use your bricks. This part should be four feet in width and four feet in length. It should rise two feet from the floor. Then add the plywood and put a big brick over it.

4. The fourth step in a do-it-yourself fireplace is making sure that the general height of the fireplace is six feet and the width should be four feet. The back must be one foot deep.

5. The fifth step in a do-it-yourself fireplace is building walls on the two sides. The walls should be two feet in height. This is an important part of this project because it where you will put the grill. Its face should be an accessible part so you can always get your grill out of it easily.

6. The sixth step in a do-it-yourself fireplace is making the griddle's shelves. These shelves should be the place where you keep the charcoals. This should be six inches under the fireplace's grill. You may also put your accessories for grilling in it.

You can maintain this fireplace safe as long as you never leave it unattended. Make sure that someone will watch over it if you have to get something far from it. You may also use gel fuel which can easily be put out instead of the ordinary charcoal. The last thing you need to remember is to make sure that the fire has been entirely put out before leaving your fireplace.

The Wonders of the Electric Fireplace

Image : http://www.flickr.com

fireplaces have been objects of both functionality and beauty. fireplaces provide heat and ambience to a certain place in the house. The evolution of the fireplace has taken great leaps in the recent years as we have seen the ascendancy of the electric fireplace.

During the old days, people only had the option of having a wood-fired fireplace. As time went by, gas-powered fireplaces gained popularity as they were relatively cheaper to maintain. But due to technology and the need for fireplaces which can be installed quickly and can be maintained easily, the electric fireplace was born. Electric fireplace simulate the flames of traditional fireplaces. Literally, nothing is being burnt and the illusion of burning is achieved through the use of audio and visual effects. Electric fireplaces can be installed quickly where there is access to electricity.

Listed below are some of the advantages and disadvantages of electric fireplaces that should be considered by those people who would want to avail of these modern-day fireplaces.

- Easy to install

The electric fireplace is very easy to install as compared to the traditional fireplaces. There are models today that can be installed in less than an hour. Electric fireplaces don't really need additional space because many of them are mounted against walls. Some of them can be installed in places where previous fireplaces are located.

Electric fireplace kits come with easy-to-understand and easy-to-follow installation kits. Installing electric fireplace also require the basic tools such as screwdrivers, glass cleaners and the like.

-Environment-friendly

As compared with the traditional wood and gas- fired fireplaces, the electric fireplaces are relatively more environment-friendly. They don't emit any fumes and additional carbon dioxide into the air because they utilize electricity. Electric fireplace are not carbon neutral though, because the electricity that is utilized by these fireplaces comes from the grid which also emits greenhouse gases. However, this fact is arguably more environment-friendly than burning wood directly in fireplaces.

-Convenience

Don't you hate the fact that you would need to put out the fire in the fireplace when you're already sleeping? This inconvenience is solved by the electric fireplaces since they usually come with remote controls. There are also models which have a built-in temperature reader. They automatically turn off when the desired temperature is reached. Some electric fireplace models today have air filtration systems and fans which distributes the heat evenly throughout the room. One can also isolate the aesthetic value of the electric fireplace from its heating function. During summer (when fireplaces are not really used), electric fireplace owners can turn off the heating function of the fireplace and turn the fake flames on to be able to give the room a good glow and ambience.

-Versatility and style

Electric fireplaces can be very versatile indeed. Aside from the fact that one can turn the "fire" without having to worry about the heat, the fake fire can also be modified according to the taste of the homeowner. Modern designs allow owners to change the speed and color of the "fire" of electric fireplaces. This is important for people who would like to incorporate the look of the fireplace and the "fire" into the whole look of the room.

Let us look at some of the disadvantages that come with electric fireplaces.

-It's just a space heater

Let us admit it, electric fireplaces are really high-end space heaters. If one is not too keen about the aesthetic value of having a fireplace, he can settle with space heaters which are definitely less pricey than electric fireplaces.

- The illusion is not good enough

Some people are not satisfied with the way the "fire" of the electric fireplaces looks. However, due to the rapidly-evolving technologies that are incorporated with newer models, the illusion of burning has been improved drastically. But then again, no one can ever argue that the illusion is better than the real thing.

These are just some of the different features and downsides of electric fireplaces. These models can really be useful for people who would like to have the comfort and the beauty of having a fireplace but are not really into the installation and maintenance of a traditional fireplace. Again, it is really a matter of personal choice, of wants and needs. It's just good that the option is available.

Living Room Interior Decorating Tips

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When it comes to decorating your home, whether for the first time or the tenth, you may come short when it comes to ideas. Before you go spend money on an interior designer for tips and hints, do your own research and make note of the ideas that will work for your living areas. It is both possible and practical to get ideas for decorating from people you know, websites you trust and television shows you enjoy. Making a living room look like a million bucks doesn't need to cost a million bucks.

The following are a few tips to get you started when decorating your living room.

Choosing Your Colors

The common homeowner may have trouble figuring out how to choose colors for their new decorating project. However, there is a very simple trick that even professional interior designers use when it comes to choosing a color palate. Simply take an existing piece of furniture, or perhaps a new piece that you will be buying, and choose colors from it. For instance, your multi-colored sofa, that beautiful new framed wall print or that glass blown bowl sitting on your coffee table might hold the answer. Choose neutral colors for walls and carpet, and bright, bold colors for accents as not to be too overpowering.

Furniture Arrangement

Many rooms in a home necessitate the furniture arrangement to be a certain way. If you're lucky, you have several options when it comes to arranging the seating in your living room. If you have a fireplace, you can place a sofa and recliner on a wall beside it, or even several feet directly in front of it. If your room is large enough, it's a bold look to place two sofas facing each other, with a focal point on the wall (such as the fireplace) between the length of them. Arrange seating evenly throughout the room and be sure to use furniture that is neither too large nor too small in proportion to the room itself. In addition, using too many and too few pieces of furniture can throw a room's look off.

Inexpensive Wall Decor

Many homeowners spent countless choosing floor coverings, decorative accents and furniture arrangements -- only to forget the most noticeable part of the room -- the walls! The good news is that after spending money on your decorating project, you can still afford to cover those walls with beautiful hangings. Look for prints at a local poster or art shop and frame them yourself for less money. Consider using eye catching designs from used calendars and framing them. Some walls may only need one or two framed items, especially if you've already accented that wall with a color other than the other walls in the room. Framed family portraits are also a good wall covering choice.

Do it Best Imports 401096 Zero Clearance Steel Grate Review

We purchased this grate to replace the one that came with our fireplace insert. It isn't exactly the same size, but it fits and we are happy with it. In fact, my husband said this is what this fireplace should have had from the beginning. We love the space it gives below the grate for the coals to accumulate and that it has five bars instead of three like our old one. As far as purchasing from this seller is concerned, our experience was wonderful. The item shipped promptly and arrived sooner than we expected. Overall we are extremely pleased with the purchase.

Weber 7521 Cooking Grate

Weber 7521 Cooking Grate Review

After three years, the performance of our Weber Spirit was going downhill. The original grates and flavorizer bars were terribly corroded causing flareups and sticking. Finally we bit the bullet and purchased new versions of both...in stainless steel. I wish we had done this last summer!

These grates are far superior to the original porcelain coated grates. Food sticks much less and seems to burn off faster. They are easier to clean with a brush than the old interlocking design.

I considered the cast iron grates, but decided to go with these due to living in a humid climate...glad I did.

They are solid and I'm sure will last for many years.

I had trouble determining the correct model number for our grill, however, and finally had to email Weber. These fit perfectly on our Spirit 200 series.

A great investment!

Weber 7523 Porcelain Enameled Grates

Weber 7523 Porcelain Enameled Grates Review

After 10 years the old Weber seemed ready for barby heaven, but I decided to look into replacing the guts. Pulled everything out, seriously cleaned the box, and installed new guts including these grates. Works like it did new and only cost about 0 for flavorizer bars, burner tubes, cooking grates, and igniter. I'm not handy AT ALL, but it was easy. Needed a philips screwdriver, and a 7/16's nut driver wasn't necessary but did come in handy. Took about an hour - somebody good at this stuff could do it in 20 or 30 minutes.

  • Set of 2 porcelain-enameled grill grates
  • For use with Weber Genesis Silver A and Spirit 500 gas grills
  • 350 square inches of cooking area
  • Distributes heat evenly at high grilling temperatures
  • Porcelain-enameled finish keeps food from sticking

Corner fireplace designs that are the traditional type usually involve the standard components such as the firebox and mantel. It can be installed on a ground level or a bit elevated and with its flooring extending from the main opening. It's a worry-free option as no smoke is emitted and no ashes to clean afterwards. What's only needed is you follow the proper instructions for installation and use to ensure the safety of everyone in the house.

If construction is an issue for you, a good tip to keep in mind is to have your corner fireplace custom built. There are many manufacturers available online these days which means you can conveniently check which of them you would prefer to create your dream corner fireplace design.

Building an Outdoor Fireplace

Image : http://www.flickr.com

One wishes for a cozy and warm place in a home which not only provides to spend precious time with dear ones but also helps to increase the beauty of the home. An outdoor fireplace is an ideal place and this is currently the most wanted trend in modern homes. It is one of the finest ideas for turning a backyard or courtyard into a livelier and fun place throughout the year. It just takes a meticulous planning along with the correct materials and tools to set it up and going. One can try it today by following the simple step by step guide on how to build an outdoor fireplace explained below.

First, a favored spot has to be selected where the fireplace has to be set up. It is better to do some research before proceeding whether it is needed to go by the city's codes and ordinances like getting a permit in order to construct an outdoor fireplace in the home. It is recommended to select a place which is at a considerable distance from the home, trees, plants and other structures that are vulnerable to fire. This is necessary for preventing unwanted fires and accidents because of some fire sparks that can be caused very easily.

One can choose to give out some seating places also if there is enough space between the fireplace and the seats. Therefore, the seats should be placed at a minimum distance of three meters away from form the fireplace to prevent any fire accidents. If one wants to save some time, a pre-fabricated fireplace is good to get hold of that is available with safety measures in mind.

After this, the area has to be prepared that was selected for building the fireplace. Any dry leaves or plants that can cause hazard have to be removed. A platform has to be constructed for the fireplace with the help of either concrete or cinder blocks. The tiles have to be arranged along the border also for making the place give a more attractive look. For installing the fireplace, a pre-fabricated one can be built without a lot of difficulties. Following the assemble instructions are just needed that are given by the manufacturer that comes along with the fireplace set. As an outdoor fireplace is being built, a chimney is needed more than a damper. This is the reason, the chimney has to be built as tall as possible and the opening of the fireplace should be lower in order to prevent too much wind from entering the fireplace. Now when everything has been done, one can proceed to test the newly built outdoor fireplace.

Relying on the creativity of mind, the fireplace can be improved and enhanced by adding stylish finishing touches to it. It can be decorated by using bricks, rocks, blocks, cement, tiles or stained concrete or it ne even painted with any desired color. For extra precautions, a fireplace screen is will work good. If the fireplace is tended to be used in future, it can be prepared by putting some firewood into the hearth. This is considered an inexpensive way for enhancing the atmosphere in the home.

Outdoor Fireplace Design - Tips To Help You Find The Perfect Fireplace Design

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Have you been thinking about adding an outdoor fireplace to liven up your home? You're not alone as these types of fireplace designs are becoming more popular every year. But what should you be aware of with any outdoor fireplace design? Let's take a look at some of the more important design elements. The outdoor stone fireplace is the most popular style of outdoor fireplace design with a wood burning stove being a close second.

There are very few differences between an indoor wood burning fireplace and an outdoor design. Basically, the only difference is that an outdoor unit will not use a damper and the chimney will be much shorter.

You have a wide variety of materials to choose from in building your outdoor fireplace. As I mentioned earlier stone is a popular choice, but you can use cast iron, cast aluminum, or a number of other materials for your outdoor fireplace design.

If you are going with a stone fireplace you will have even more choices on the type of stones you can use. A limestone fireplace surround design makes for a great choice. But you can use marble, slate or natural stones.

Natural stone comes in all sizes and colors which means you can have a one-of-a kind unique outdoor fireplace.

For those on a minimal budget, consider a laver, or fire ring for outdoor use. These units are not only less costly, but they are portable and can easily be moved around.

In many cases you add a fireplace mantel, firebox, hearth and other add-ons as a part of your complete outdoor fireplace kit. A kit is easy enough for most any homeowner to install and comes with everything you need in one complete package.

So if you have decided on adding a fireplace to the outside of your home, keep these tips in mind and you will have the perfect outdoor fireplace design.

Fireplace Screens - These Accessories Are A Must

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Many new homeowners don't realize the responsibility that comes along with having a fireplace installed in their homes. These beautiful creations do require some work and maintenance, but if they are well taken care of problems almost never arise. One of the best ways to ensure that a fireplace remains safe is to be certain the fireplace screens and accessories are always in use and in good repair.

fireplace screens are the first line of defense a homeowner has while using a fireplace. Yes, these creations are designed to burn logs indoors while providing heat, but they can sometimes get out of control. The fireplace screens help ensure they don't. Operating a fireplace without understanding basic safety and maintenance is not recommended.

Here's a basic primer for first-time fireplace owners. Let's start with the screens. These serve two major purposes:

* Keep ember ins. Sometimes when a roaring fire is really roaring, the wood pops and crackles. While that's the charm of a fireplace, if those embers happen to fly into a room, a fire outside the confines of the fireplace can start. This is where screens are vitally important. If a fire is burning, a screen should be installed. There are no ifs, ands or buts about that one. They simply protect the house and everyone in it from accidents.

* Keep creatures out. Animals and children are best protected in a house with a fireplace when the screen is in place. As the screen works to keep embers it, it also helps make sure things like curious little hands and wagging tails don't make their way into the fire area. With this in mind, it's vitally important to keep a screen in place as a fire roars.

In addition to making sure the screen is on if the fire is on, there are other things homeowners should know about fireplaces. These include:

* Annual maintenance. It's a very good idea to have a fireplace inspected and cleaned once a year. This might seem like overkill, but the truth is it is just a smart and safe idea. Cleaning can help remove fire hazards and also make sure that smoke is being properly vented outside of the house.

* Self-maintenance. Fireplace accessories beyond the screen should be used to move logs, clean up ashes and so on. Cleaning out the fire pit on a regular basis of old ashes can help ensure the fireplace stays in good working order while a house, too, stays cleaner.

A good set of fireplace accessories should always be placed next to a fireplace when its in operation. If small children are present, considering storing these on the mantel to prevent pokers from becoming accidental weapons.

Having a fireplace can be a great way to add ambiance to a home. It does come with some responsibility though. Smart homeowners make sure they put safety first. From the fireplace screens to the right maintenance schedule, an ounce of prevention in this care is absolutely worth more than a pound of cure.

Weber 7436 Replacement Hinged Cooking Grate

Weber 7436 Replacement Hinged Cooking Grate Review

I had no idea that a cooking grate like this even existed until I was looking for Weber accessories on Amazon one day. I really wish my 22.5" Weber grill came with one of these in the first place, but I guess most casual grillers don't need access to the charcoal during grilling.

If you use lump charcoal, like I do, then this cooking grate is very valuable, because it allows you to shuffle the coals around without completely removing the grate. Also, if you use your grill to slow-cook meat, you can flip up the side of the grate and add more coals periodically without disrupting the food.

Weber 7436 Replacement Hinged Cooking Grate Feature

  • Flip-up sides allow easy addition of briquets
  • Heavy bright nickel plated steel
  • Great for slow cooking
  • 22 1/2" in diameter

Weber 7436 Replacement Hinged Cooking Grate Overview

Weber accessories are made to provide the same durable performance as our grills, so grilling can be a success every time. Flip-up sides allow the easy addition of briquettes for indirect cooking. Replacement hinged cooking grates, are made of heavy, bright nickel-plated steel. Grates have curved handgrips that can hang from kettle handles. Fits 22-1/2-inch kettles.

Weber 7526 Cooking Grate

Weber 7526 Cooking Grate Review

My original grills finally got rust holes so they went to the scrap pile. I had already replaced the flavorizer bars (V bars over burners) with aftermarket stainless steel. So I had the choice to go with stainless grate or cast iron. After some research I chose the cast iron and I am glad I did. They are more expensive than stainless and take a bit longer to pre-heat....but I think worth it. I got these during the middle of winter so I haven't done a lot of grilling but what I have done turned out nice. The only negative is the space between the bars is slightly wider than the stamped grates. So a small fish fillet may fall through after you cook it if you put it directly on the bars. steaks and pork is perfect. My Grill is the Weber Genesis Silver C and the grates were a perfect fit.

Weber 7526 Cooking Grate Feature

  • Porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates
  • Fits the Genesis Silver B and C
  • Fits the Spirit E-310
  • Easy to install

Weber 7526 Cooking Grate Overview

The Weber cooking grate is made of porcelain-enameled cast-iron and fits the Genesis Silver B and C and Spirit E-310 gas grill. The porcelain enamel is cooked into the cast iron to prevent the rust but it still really feels and looks like regular cast iron.

Creative Ways To Display Your Photos

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You have a terrific digital camera that you use to take awesome pictures. A great quality camera case that holds that camera, plus all the accessories you need on your photo shoots. You have the memory cards and the equipment to transfer the images to your computer once you get home with your treasured photographs. And you have boxes and boxes of those wonderful photographs that, occasionally, you sit down and look through and then put back in the closet.

Wouldn't it be great to be able to enjoy some of those beautiful shots of that skiing trip you took to Colorado every day? Or those great shots of the kids at the beach last summer? And, how about those wonderful tintypes of your ancestors who came into this country through Ellis Island years ago. Wouldn't it be special to see them proudly displayed, rather than stuck away, forgotten, except for those rare occasions when you drag them out to show the kids? There are so many ways to display photographs today, the possibilities are almost endless.

The traditional way to display photographs is to frame them, or put them in a frame, and either hang them on a wall or place them on some surface. The best way to see how a group of pictures is going to look on a wall is to lay them out on the floor. Move them around, work with them. After you get the placement that is right, then start putting them up on the wall. Remember the general rule for hanging any art, hang it at eye level. And, as with most things, odd numbers are more eye appealing than even.

If you have a staircase, it's the perfect area to display your photographs. It removes the need to hang the pictures in a perfectly straight line, and the effect of the photos traveling up, following the stairs, can make a dramatic statement. It can be made into a theme wall, such as a wedding wall, hanging wedding pictures dating back as far in your family as you can find them. Pictures can be set on anything, a fireplace mantel, piano, dressers, coffee tables and end tables, the television, basically, anything that has a flat top surface can have a picture placed on it. But, you want to place them with purpose. Group a few like pictures together and combine them with a couple quality accessories to make a beautiful table arrangement.

When hanging your photos, there are many options, the most traditional is the picture hanger and wire on the back of the picture. But, there are some other, more creative ways to hang pictures. Using ribbon, for example. There are many techniques for hanging photos with ribbon. You can take two lengths of ribbon and attach them to the back of the picture frame at the top corners. Then bring them together, tie them in a bow, and hang the picture on the wall. A couple pictures hung like this along with a few complimentary pieces, makes a lovely grouping.

Armed with these creative ideas for displaying those photographs you're going to be taking, you'll want to be sure to keep your camera and camera bag close by. Because once you have your photographs arranged, you can cycle the photos with new photographs in some of the frames.

Solutions to Everyday Rug Problems

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Most people like having rugs in their homes. They offer quite a bit of decor, color, and design to the room as well as some padding for the floors. At times there are problems with the rugs that can mess them up. Learn what you can do about these common issues.

The first problem that happens to many rugs is that they have corners that lift up. The problem with this is that you can trip over the upturned corners. Over the long run it's not good for the rug. There are some very simple solutions to this issue. The first is to use some double sided tape. This is a simple way of holding the rug down. Consider using some velco as well which will hold the corner down and help the corner to not pop back up.

Another issue is the rug slipping or moving across the floor. Instead of constantly adjusting the rug over and over again, get a rug pad for it. This will hold the rug in place so that you won't have to mess with it. The pad will be more secure on a variety of types of flooring making this a very simple solution.

Some rugs can hold in quite a bit of odor. Wool rugs especially have this problem. Be sure to do your normal cleaning of the rug especially vacuuming them. Use powders when vacuuming that will make the rug smell better and not hold in as much odor.

For pet issues like urinating on the rug, you will need some stronger cleaners. Be sure to get the rug safe version of cleaners as some are too harsh and might discolor the rug quite a bit. Look for pet deterrent type products to help influence your pet to not use the rug in this manner. This will keep the rug smelling a whole lot better.
