Finding a Mini Portable Refrigerator to Last Years

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Where can you find a mini portable refrigerator that is built to last years? When you start looking you will find there are many places, including discount stores, that sell mini portable refrigerators that won't cost you an "arm and a leg." There is no need to spend a lot of money to get an appliance that will meet your needs and will last for many years.

In order to make a wise decision, you will need to know what kind of mini portable refrigerator you will need and how much you are willing to spend. You do not want to purchase a fridge that will break down in a few weeks. The best way to buy an excellent product is to search online for product reviews. No doubt there are others who have bought the exact same mini portable refrigerator you are interested in. Always make sure there are a few good reviews and decide if the negative ones will really impact your purchase decision. In depth reviews are always helpful.

If money is a major issue, than take time to scour local pawn shops. These shops usually will sell items that are almost brand new. Of course, should you decide to buy a mini portable refrigerator from a pawn shop, do not expect a warranty from the manufacturer. Some pawn shops do offer their 30-day warranty.

If you want a brand new fridge, than decide on a local appliance store for a mini refrigerator. Appliance stores compete with one another and will compete for customers, thus offering special deals that will save you money.

When you have found the fridge you will definitely want to check on the product features. After all, you don't want to buy something that will not meet your entire needs. Some of these product features are...

- Temperature that can easily be adjusted
- Portable refrigerator comes with a lock and key
- For easy cleaning, stainless steel is the best deal
- Fridge should come with a reversible door

If you are in the market to purchase the smallest mini portable refrigerator, which is perfect for road trips, than some of the product features should be...

- Able to stay with you due to size
- Able to store medication
- Foods stored conveniently
- Can be used either on side or standing up
- Is light and easy to transport

There are some mini portable refrigerators that are used in cars and keeps items cooler as well as warmer. Inserting the plug into the car's power outlet is quite handy. If you need to utilize ultimate space than this mini portable refrigerator is just the ticket.

Mini refrigerators come in all sizes. You can purchase one to use in your car or a slightly bigger one to use in a small area, which is especially popular with college students living in dorms. You will just have to learn where to look to save money. Always make sure the manufacture is well known; this will guarantee your mini portable refrigerator will last for years to come.

Fire Up Your Imagination With Fire Art

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Fire art is a remarkable mélange of media conformed by the simple act of combustion: blacksmithing, glassblowing, metal casting, welding and the purely artistic free form display of fire sculpture. When we think of fire art, we naturally consider practicalities and think of an outdoor spectacle, perhaps on the Fourth of July or other jubilant holiday, something with a demonstration of fire art on a grand scale. It's true, the nature of fire makes us remember happy camping trips and the way that fire played the role of ending the long days filled with outdoor activities. When we roasted wieners over the open flames, all sorts of primal memories stirred, that of camaraderie between clan members as they roasted the results of that day's hunt, or moving along in history, the bonfires of a nineteenth-century American election night. Outsized emotions grow from any display of fire and a fire festival such as the Crucible in West Oakland, California, has entranced audiences for ten years. Growing from a simpler festival having to do with the straightforward uses of fire in artistic endeavor, it now encompasses the disciplines of dance and opera to enthrall the people who attend each July. Even the science fiction aspect of fire art comes into play, as a Tesla coil has been used in the festival, and each observer took away with him the frazzling snaps of the coil and the memories of the similar display from the iconic movie Frankenstein. Whatever your personal connection with fire, from movies to camping trips to artistic endeavor, a fire art festival will jolt you into thinking artistic thoughts, and perhaps into creating a fire art piece yourself!

If you choose to do fire art, you will need a source of fire, such as a propane tank, and a great deal of training due to the dangerous nature of the medium. But you are bold and have an artistic vision, and the training comes easily enough: propane tanks come with valves and pressure indicators to shape your flame and colorants to give it the hue that you desire. Really, in no time at all you will be ready to make your first piece. Start simple, perhaps a hoop of flame with the influence of a circus hoop that animals leap through. Such a piece will have a comic effect, and you will have gained experience working with flames. Further designs may include a whirling vortex or a fire wand, similar to a lighter that is used to set fireplace logs to blazing; the optimal criterion for a successful fire art piece is safety, which is assured in many cases by a hazardous materials suit chosen for the more ambitious pieces. Once your piece is on display at night, any hazards are under control as you enjoy your artwork yourself, and others enjoy it with you. Fire art is the ultimate public display of art.

With the addition of dance or opera or simply jubilant swaying to the beat of a drum under the light of numerous pieces of fire art, the synergy of a fire art festival shows its true beauty: people coming together to bring to life a bit of performance art themselves, as lighthearted or as serious as they want to make it.

Winter Park Colorado - Ski in and Out Lodging

Image : http://www.flickr.com

So you have decided to take your ski trip to Winter Park, Colorado: Colorado's favorite! Now first and foremost is deciding on your ski lodging. Should you stay in town or go farther down the road to Fraser or go for the luxury ski trip and get the ski in and ski out digs? Well in this article I will be pushing for the splurge of going for the ski in and ski out digs.

On the Winter Park side there are only a few locations that are truly ski in and out. This is because the railroad cuts the ski area off and much of Winter Park Resort is on National Forest land. There is the luxurious Base Camp on Jane Creek, the older and semi rundown Iron Horse resort, the true ski in /out of Zephyr Mountain Lodge and the twin developments of Founder's Pointe and Fraser Crossing.

On the Mary Jane side there is the Arlberg Club and if you know someone there or are someway fortunate enough to be a member, you are very lucky. There are the new homes that is Bridgers Cache that is built on land from the Arlberg Club

So there you have it. For all of the Winter Park/Mary Jane Resort there are really only five buildings (six if you count Zephyr Mountain Lodge as two buildings) that you will be able to purchase lodging from. Now let's go through each option you have for you're your Winter Park ski in and out lodging.

Right at the base of Winter Park Resort there is the condo-tell Zephyr Mountain Lodge. Zephyr Mountain Lodge is two buildings, Slopeside and Riverside, of 157 units. There are one, two and three room condos but less than ten are three bedrooms. The units in the building are privately owned condos that are leased either through a property management company such as Winter Park Lodging by Owner or Intrawest. Intrawest also manages the Winter Park Resort and has a front desk on site and they act as if they own the place. Winter Park Lodging by Owner (WPLBO.com) has an office in town and guests get their keys at the Zephyr Mountain Lodge front desk. Other Zephyr units can be found on Rental by Owner but that is a bit risky as you will have no help if a problem arises during your stay. Each of the two buildings at Zephyr has two outdoor hot tubs and each condo has a gas fireplace. Rooms if they have not been updated are very hotel roomish with no original or mountain feel at all. Most of the Intrawest rooms are this way as they encourage owners of the units they manage to make no changes at all. Winter Park Lodging by Owner rooms are usually updated with unique wall hangings, paint colors and updated kitchens, counter tops and flat screen televisions.

Next there is the twin buildings of Fraser Crossing and Founders Pointe. These are very new buildings that were completed in 2008. The location is across Winter Park drive. Yes they are still considered ski in and out. The true real estate definition is if it can be walked it is ski in and out. Fraser Crossing and Founders Point are nice with good views of the slopes and a hot tub for each building and gas fireplaces in each condo. There is an amenity level that has gas grills and tables for the owner/guests enjoyment. The options are for lodging companies are Winter Park Lodging by Owner, Intrawest or Rental by Owner. Again, Rental by Owner is risky and Intrawest is dull with non personalized rooms that seem as if you are in a Holiday Inn. So I recommend Winter Park Lodging by Owner there also.

Going up the slopes you have the Iron Horse Resort that was built in 1984 and is showing every year of it. I would like to say I like the Iron Horse because of the location but it is just so rundown and outdated that it really is not up to my standards of what ski in and out should be. They have a restaurant there now that is an offshoot of the Tabernash Tavern. Never been to the one at Iron Horse but the location in Tabernash is fantastic. The Iron Horse slopes are accessed by elevator that takes guests owners to a catwalk that accesses the base of Winter Park Resort by Zephyr Mountain Lodge. Lodging providers at The Iron Horse Resort are Rental by Owner, Allegiant management, and the Iron Horse Resort Management that has a front desk onsite. I would be leery of Rental by Owner for above reasons and Allegiant is alright if it's a decent Unit and the Iron Horse Resort is alright again if you can find a decent unit.

Base Camp on Jane Creek is the ultimate of the ski in and out experience. All units are four bedrooms though. The finishes are top notch and a couple have elevators inside the units. Each has a private hot tub and gas grills on the patios. Parking is a bit tight with one car garages and a single spot on the driveway. Slope access is up a fairly long walkway or you can be steal a ride in the Iron Horse Resort's elevator to the catwalk. Each unit has multiple gas fireplaces and all in floor radiant heat. If you are brave enough (good enough skier!) and know about the Elevator Shutes you can ski to you front door. You have to ski across a small stream though. You can find Lodging options at Base Camp on Jane Creek through Winter Park Lodging by Owner (WPLBO.com).

As for the Jane side the Arlberg Club is very cool but you need to be a member and the homes in Bridger's Cache can be found on Rental by Owner.

There is the rundown of the for Winter Park Ski Resort ski in and out options. It is of my opinion if you are wanting ski in and out at Winter Park for one and two bedrooms go for Zephyr Mountain Lodge and for three and four bedrooms go for Base Camp on Jane Creek.

Weber 72201 Replacement Charcoal Grates

Weber 72201 Replacement Charcoal Grates Review

I've got a Smokey Joe. One day, I managed to trash the grate. It is a long story, but suffice to say, I do not recommend dropping a grate on the ground repeatedly as a cleaning method. Eventually the grate breaks. That was my fault, not Weber's.

So, I needed a new grate. I bought this one. As far as I could tell, it is a relacememt, through and through. It fit, it held up under the heat. It grilled. Not too complicated.

You've got the obvious choice: do you buy a new grill, or just the replacement? I can't guide you there. That depends on the age of your grill. However, if you've a sturdy grill, and in a misguided cleaning effort you did a bit of damage, go for the replacement.

I fully recommend Weber's Replacement Charcoal Grates.

How to Make Your Own Fire Starters and Matches

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You can make your own fire starters quite easily for your fireplace and camping needs. A good fire starter ensures that you can get the fire going quickly in any type of weather condition. Fire starters come in handy if the wood is wet.

Some of the essential items in the contents to make fire starters include cotton balls, petroleum jelly, wax, paper cups, paraffin, sawdust, dry lint, candle wax, pine cones, and wicks. You may also have fabric scraps, wood pieces, scrap paper and cardboard.

It is always advisable to use only black-and-white newspaper to start a fire. Colored ink releases chemicals when burned.

Here are some of the ways you can make the fire starters at your home.

1. Roll a few cotton balls and cover it completely in the petroleum jelly. You can start a fire by putting two or three cotton balls under your dry kindling and ignite with a match stick.

2. Cut your worn out web belt or hiking compression strap into 8 cm strips. Soak them in wax and let them dry. You can ignite them when you need fire.

3. Fill paper condiment cups with saw dust and pour paraffin over them. Dry them and use them when needed.

4. A ball of dry lint covered with candle wax can make an excellent fire starter.

5. Go back to the Stone Age. You can use flint, a stone when struck vigorously with a piece of steel generates sparks which can ignite dry tinder.

Beeswax fire starters

Beeswax is the only naturally found wax on earth. It is a pure, perfect and a renewable resource. It emits negative ions that cleanse the air. It does not contain toxic petrochemicals and does not create soiling smoke or soot.

Beeswax burns without releasing drips if it is kept away from drafts. The beeswax is consumed by the fire of the flame unlike other waxes that melt into drippings and disintegrate into toxic components that pollute your environment.

Magnesium fire starters

A magnesium fire starter consists of a small block of solid magnesium with a full- length flint sparkling insert into the edge. The soft magnesium can be easily scrapped with a pocket knife into a pile which is ignited by scraping the edge of the sparking insert with the knife. Magnesium can ignite to a temperature of 5,400 degrees Fahrenheit, more than enough to light the most stubborn campfire.

A word of caution while using magnesium fire starter

If you manage to cut a long silver of the magnesium off, just turn your head slightly away when you light it. Magnesium burns very brightly and becomes very hot. Its light is dazzling bright, so do not stare at it or use it on an inflammable platform.

Pine cone fire starters

Pine cone fire starters can be made by dipping them in boiling wax. Place them on the wax paper until they become hard. You can use this pine cone as a fire starter by igniting it with a light.

Fatwood is a 100% natural fire starter made from the pine tree stumps. Fatwood is, in fact, the concentrated natural resin in the wood. Each piece is usually 8 inch long and 3/4" in diameter. It can be ignited with a single match.

Stove Bright Fire Starter Gel

Gelled fire starters can be used in woodstoves, pellet stoves, fireplaces, coal stoves and also in campfires. They are color less, smokeless, barbeques and environmentally safe. It does not leave its odor in the taste of foods.

Rutland fire starters

Rutland Company makes solid fire starters which are compressed wood chips and wax based squares. They contain recycled wood and paper fiber. They burn very quickly and last for 8 to 12 minutes even when wet. They are non-dangerous flare ups, non-toxic and non explosives and do not leave their taste in food.
